Good to meet you,

Hello, I’m Kat, and I know firsthand how much our pets mean to us. They are more than just animals—they are family, companions, and constant sources of love and joy.

When I’m not caring for animals, you’ll either find me in a gig boat on the Helford River, or in my garden, growing fruit and vegetables in the company of my ducks.

Home isn’t a home for me unless it’s filled with animals! I’m lucky to count a whippet, our rescue cat, a tank full of fish, a lively flock of ducks and chickens, and even two teenagers among our menagerie. Being around animals every day has reinforced what I’ve always known—each one has its own personality, quirks, and needs, and they all deserve care that respects who they are and the bond they share with their families.

I’ve worked as a companion animal Vet for 22 years. I’ve done all sorts from general practice to nutrition advice to orthopaedic referral work to managing Bristol vet school referrals. My last three years have been spent working as an Emergency and Critical Care Vet at a local vet hospital’s Night service . I went into the night role expecting to find the rush of saving a life in an emergency immensely rewarding. I was surprised to find in fact that the opposite was true. For the first time in my professional life I was able to create a space for families away from the busyness and time pressures of a working clinic day, to give them and their pet all the time and compassion they needed, as they made the hardest and kindest decision they will face as a pet owner. To say goodbye peacefully to their beloved friend.

As a night vet in a busy hospital it wasn’t possible to go to people’s homes as it would have meant leaving critical patients unattended. I wanted to take the step of creating Vet at Home to meet pets where they need us most and take this service out of the clinic doors and into people’s homes

That’s why I started this service—to offer a gentle, compassionate alternative to clinical settings, allowing pets to stay in familiar surroundings during their final moments

22 Years experience

For over 22 years, I have dedicated my career to caring for animals and supporting the people who love them. Throughout my time as a veterinarian, I have worked with countless families, guiding them through some of the most difficult decisions they will ever have to make for their pets.

Over the years, I have come to understand that end-of-life care is more than just a medical procedure—it is a deeply emotional and personal experience. My focus is on ensuring that every pet’s final moments are as peaceful, dignified, and comfortable as possible while providing pet owners with the support, guidance, and reassurance they need during this time..

My Qualifications

I hold a veterinary degree from Bristol University, along with a certificate in surgery, which has provided me with extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing complex medical conditions.

My years in clinical practice have given me a deep understanding of pain management, palliative care, and end-of-life decision-making.

I continuously expand my knowledge through ongoing professional development to ensure I provide the highest standard of care for every pet and family I support.

Clinical & compassionate

Veterinary medicine is not just about science—it is about heart. I believe that clinical excellence must go hand in hand with deep compassion.

Every pet is unique, and every family has different needs, which is why I take the time to listen, understand, and provide care that aligns with both medical best practices and the emotional well-being of everyone involved.

My goal is to create a calm and reassuring experience, ensuring that pets feel safe and loved while helping owners find peace in their decisions.

My approach to end of life care

Helping owners do the right thing.

You know how much your clients love their pets, and you provide the support they need to make compassionate, confident choices that align with their values.

Focusing on the pet’s comfort.

I prioritise creating a calm environment so pets can feel relaxed during their care, eliminating the anxiety of travel and noisy clinics.

Empowering owners to make informed decisions.

I recognise how overwhelming it can be to make decisions about a pet’s health, so I take the time to provide clear information and guidance.

Meeting pet owners where they are.

By visiting clients in their homes, I provide a convenient and stress-free experience that puts both the pet and owner at ease. (This service is only currently available in Cornwall)

Respecting the unique needs of each family.

I understand that every situation is different, and I work collaboratively with the owner to find the right solution for both their pet and their circumstances.
